FAQs
I know you have questions. Starting therapy can be a daunting process and I don’t offer a run-of-the-mill type of therapy. While my website is packed full of wonderful information on EMDR, Somatosymbolic Processing, my clinical practice, and info about me as a therapist, here are the top logistical and policy questions I’m asked.

I offer a range of services and the fees vary for each, depending on the length of session.
You can see more information about each service on their individual pages: EMDR Intensives , Extended Sessions, and 90 Minute Sessions.
“Good Faith Estimate” from the “No Surprises Billing Act”
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-877-696-6775.

No. This is a private pay practice. I do not accept insurance or provide superbills (which can open your notes to audits and your bank account to clawbacks from insurance). You can use an HSA or FSA card for services though.
EMDR and SomatoSymbolic Processing are amazing modalities that are best performed with an extended session. Insurance will only pay up to 53 minutes of a session. This severely limits my ability as a clinician to effectively treat my clients.
Furthermore, confidentiality is an important value to my practice and involving insurance takes away my ability to provide that. I believe that intimate details of your lived experience and decisions about your care plan are best kept between therapist and client, so I guard that fiercely.

I accept all major credit/debit cards, HSA (Health Savings Account) cards, and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) cards. Checks can be used for in-person services with a backup card on file. Payment is rendered at the time of service unless previous arrangements have been made. All EMDR Intensive packages are eligible for a payment plan option.
-
The cancellation policy is 50% of your session fee if cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, 100% of your session fee if cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.
For EMDR Intensives the cancellation fee is subject to a tiered system dependent on amount of services rendered prior to cancellation.

Adjunctive EMDR sessions are when you’re currently seeing another therapist, but are utilizing EMDR as an add-on therapy to help process specific issues.
I do offer adjunctive sessions in either the Extended Session or EMDR Intensive format. Adjunctive sessions are a short-term arrangement and highly focused. I encourage clients to maintain their relationship with their primary therapist throughout EMDR treatment and request an ROI so that I can help collaborate care with a client’s primary therapist.

For all session types, I offer in-person or virtual options. You may also choose a hybrid platform where we can switch back and forth as needed and if availability allows.
*In the event of illness or known exposure to contagious illness sessions are moved to virtual for the health and safety of myself, my family, and all the clients I serve.

The great news is that you don’t have to pick one type of therapy session format (ie EMDR Intensive, Extended 3 Hour Sessions, or 90 Minute Sessions) and stick to it the entire time.
Often times clients will use an EMDR Intensive or a few Extended Sessions to “jumpstart” their therapy process since it allows us to get all the beginning work done in a short timeframe. Afterwards, they may elect to go down to 90 minute sessions as we continue work on the goals that matter to them.
Also, as life comes up, some clients may find that they need the extra time of an Extended Session to break-through a particularly difficult topic.
The choice is up to you. I believe that when given flexibility and information, you’re able to make the best choice for yourself and your healing process.

Unfortunately, at the moment I can only work with individuals who are physically in the state of Missouri or Florida for our session. If you can physically be in the state of Missouri or Florida for our session, I can work with you. My EMDR Intensive Programs are a popular choice for individuals who live out of state, but wish to work with me.
Once the Counseling Compact is enacted in Missouri I will be pursuing counseling privileges in multiple other states, so please check back at a later date if travel is not something you can do right now.
