aDJUNCTIVE EMDR THERAPY

I don’t want your clients.

Well, at least not long term.

What I mean by that:

As therapists, we may get a wee bit territorial over our clients. These are individuals we see every 1-2 weeks for months or even years. We’ve built strong relationships with them and have often helped prop them up until they are ready to stand on their own. It makes sense. However, sometimes there are things a client needs to process with EMDR that just don’t seem to budge any other way. That’s when my adjunctive offerings come in.

These services are specifically offered on a short-term basis and by function are designed to be temporary services. Whether your client is spending a week on an EMDR Intensive Program or they see me for longer form Extended EMDR Sessions over the course of a couple months, I encourage collaborative care and continuation with their primary therapist.

Collaborative Care

As someone that started in the field working in the hospital and treatment centers I’m a big fan of collaborative care. By pooling our shared knowledge about a client we can make sure there aren’t blind spots and they’re receiving the best care possible. I’m open to collaborating with other members of a client’s care team including their primary therapist, psychiatrist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, or physician. Let’s get some ROIs signed and get to work!

Adjunctive Services

  • EMDR Intensives

EMDR Intensive Programs are a short-term, time-boxed option. These programs are 2-5 back to back days in which the client is processing intensively their targets with EMDR. This can be an extremely powerful experience for clients and can provide a lot of change and movement. Because of the power of these sessions, I encourage clients to keep their regular sessions with their therapist as they may need support while adjusting to the positive, yet different changes.

  • Extended EMDR Sessions

Extended EMDR Sessions are 3 hours in length and are done every 1-3 weeks, typically for 5-10 sessions though that depends on the complexity of presentation and the client’s goals. Throughout this process I actively encourage collaborative care between myself and the client’s primary therapist and will most likely want to have a consult call to make sure we’re all on the same page. As the client’s primary therapist you know them better than I do, so I believe you provide an invaluable perspective that is immensely beneficial to the work I do with them.
